The 10 Top Productivity Blogs
A blog worth reading is one that offers consistently original content and is more concerned with having great posts than fulfilling a certain quota of posts.
The following ten blogs offer something unique and can help improve your life.
1. Motivate Thy Self – Eric Hamm is a serial entrepreneur, and also the creator of Frugal Theme. He’s down to earth, and his posts are filled with valuable nuggets of wisdom.
He writes, “I’m dedicated to making the most out of each and every day of my life and I am passionate about helping others do the same.”
His blog exudes a sincere desire to help those who read it. And while he doesn’t publish often, when he does, you know you’re in for a treat.
2. ZenHabits – You can credit Leo Babauta of Zenhabits for creating a productivity renaissance in the blogosphere. His focus is giving you information that you can use to better your life and he does an amazing job at it. In addition, he’s a gifted writer.
3. Get Rich Slowly – One of J.D. Roth’s core philosophies is, “When we overspend, we’re making mental mistakes, not math mistakes.”
You’ll find loads of helpful information on this site to help you get your finances in order. J.D. is a highly prolific writer, so by reading his posts every day you give yourself a daily dose of inspiration for being wiser with your money.
4. mnmalist – Where Zenhabits focuses on a wide range of subjects, Leo’s other blog focuses pretty much exclusively on minimalism.
When asked ‘why be a minimalist’, Leo says, “It’s a way to escape the excesses of the world around us — the excesses of consumerism, material possessions, clutter, having too much to do, too much debt, too many distractions, too much noise. But too little meaning.”
One of the great features of this blog is that most posts are very concise, yet filled with value.
5. Study Hacks – According to the author, Cal Newport, “The Study Hacks blog explores strategies for building a remarkable life — one that’s accomplished and engaging, but also relaxed and enjoyable to live.”
I’ve found some excellent advice on this blog. The articles are well written and scholarly. While many articles are geared towards students, most of the advice can be applied to anyone who wants to excel in life.
6. The Blog of Tim Ferris – Tim Ferris is the author of the smash hit “The Four-Hour Workweek”. He was nominated as one of Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Business People of 2007″. His articles are on a broad range of topics, are well written, well researched and full of insight.
7. 43 folders – In the ‘how to use’ section of this site, Merlin Mann writes:
“Ask yourself…
Why am I here right now instead of making something cool on my own? What’s the barrier to me starting that right now?”
The above isn’t meant as an insult as the author points out, but is a good indication of what this blog champions.
8. Lateral Action – In the ‘about’ section the author writes, “It’s not enough to be productive if what you produce doesn’t make a difference. Those who stay busy with foolish productivity are scurrying around efficiently avoiding any real innovation, one productivity hack at a time.”
This blog has a unique emphasis on creativity.
9. Life Hacker – “Lifehacker, the software and productivity guide, is a blog that covers tips and tricks for streamlining your life with computers (and sometimes without),” according to the FAQ.
This is a unique blog because it heavily incorporates using your computer to be more productive. This blog publishes over 20 tips a day.
10. Fun Life Development – The author, Vlad Dolezal writes, “I love helping other people improve their lives. And seeing that “Ah-ha!” expression on someone’s face when they finally get something on a gut-deep level is one of my favorite sights.”
A nice thing about his posts is he doesn’t do list posts, so you can enjoy subjects in a more in depth style.
